Я испытал ту же ошибку с моим кодом MediaPlayer. У меня были разные результаты, играя простой файл test.ogg, расположенный в исходном каталоге. Мой AVD смог воспроизвести файл, SE Xperia Mini Pro воспроизвел звук, но мой Samsung SII разбился, используя простой код ниже.

MediaPlayer mediaPlayer = MediaPlayer.create(this.getBaseContext(), R.raw.test);
mediaPlayer.start();

Я получил ту же ошибку, что и вы

java.io.IOException: setDataSourceFD failed.

Я также тестировал воспроизведение файла по локальной сети с ожидаемыми результатами для обоих телефонов (SE играл в файл, и Samsung не смог воспроизвести его). Это в значительной степени означает, что разные версии Android не могут воспроизводить один и тот же звук, и вам нужно использовать разностный аудиоформат.
